{ Danny had viewed the past few weeks as a curse. Getting to know who he had viewed as the greatest guy in the world - someone who was sweet and understanding and motivational and undeniably beautiful - and having to watch it crumble within minutes had left his heart in a vast roller-coaster of emotion that he just hadn’t been prepared for. All he wanted was peace and relaxation but the twin apparently wasn’t going to give him a break. Honestly, he was tired of hearing Aiden talk about his brother. If Ethan was being silent and angry then so be it; Danny didn’t want to hear any of it.
And he wasn’t about to endure someone, who looked exactly like his old love, pushing him around.
Of course, Aiden’s grip was as strong as Ethan’s. He attempted to pull his hand away and grimaced when the fingers held strong. }
“So, what you’re saying is, you’d rather fight the words out of me instead of going to fight the words out of him? What you just said is the extent of what I know. We were together, then we weren’t, and I’m left here wondering why the hell I even gave him a chance in the first place.”
{ His typical cool and collective demeanor had drastically turned into his nostrils flaring and his desire to raise his voice skyrocketing. Since he had already suffered through a rough breakup with his previous ex-boyfriend, Ethan had swept him off his feet to just throw him back down without a care in the world. So, with a fit of emotion rippling through his core, Danny was brave enough to place a hand on Aiden’s chest to try to push him backward so that the grip on his wrist would have been relinquished. He wasn’t playing games anymore and his face most likely expressed a look equivalent to “you have three seconds to let go.” With another attempt, he pulled his wrist back as his eyes glared into Aiden’s - a strikingly similar pair of eyes that he had never expected to angrily look into. }

{ Patience wore thin easily with Aiden; usually, he weren’t so quick to turn on humans but for Danny, he would make the exception. Wryly, he looked down to the hand pressed firmly into his chest, giving all but a snort as he dropped his hold. It was more evident now than before that Danny wasn’t aware of much at all, considering he would already know the answer to his question had he known the truth. Approaching Ethan was putting yourself at risk; he was emotional, distraught and angry – anything with two legs and a heartbeat that so much as breathed the wrong way within a five foot radius was bound to become the victim to his sobbing, snotty mess.
Unless you were Aiden; he usually fell victim to his anger.
Not that he minded – he had taken his fair share of temper tantrums out on his brother, why not return the favour every once and a while? }
“Because he’s not all that bad of a guy, Danny – he has his reasons, I’m sure. But I think you’re just going to have to trust me on his one when I say it’s probably for the best.”
{ The best for who, though? For Ethan? He would no longer be subject to spending his free time worrying about what dangers – everyday ordinary dangers – the human could face throughout the day. He would no longer be feel responsible if something did happen – could his brother live in more peace? Or was it for Danny? To keep him as safe as Ethan could manage by not being with him – so he wouldn’t be used as bait against the twin when the others came looking for them. Whatever the reason, whoever it benefited, Aiden saw no downfall in this encounter. In honesty, he was far more curious than upset – although that didn’t stop the annoyance from underlying in his tone. }
“Besides – this probably gives you the freedom to explore … bigger and better opportunities?”
